Core Weapons 101
How to obtain
A core weapon is granted to your character upon creation, based on your class and starting equipment will base the starting materials you get to choose from, 3 for a meele weapon, 2 for a ranged weapon. you will only gain one (or a set) Core weapon at the start of your playthrough, if this weapon is destroyed, sold, lost or stolen you cannot get a new one, you may be able to retrieve a stolen or lost weapon or repair a destroyed one depending on the details.
How to upgrade
Throughout the game your characters will find or purchase more weapon materials these can be full parts or scraps.
if you find a full part such as an iron blade you only need to find a forge and pay the smith to use it on your weapon, higher grade materials require higher levels of smiths.
you will find many scraps of materials, it takes 3 scraps of the same material to forge 1 weapon part and this weapon part is random.
There is a very rare and special material called Starfite. this material when forged onto your weapon won't replace the part but instead double all bonuses that part provides. for example forging a starfite core on a Silver core will turn its damage die from a D6 to 2D6
Wielding a core weapon
The Blueprint you chose will determine its damage type and wielding capabilities. all shown in the file above.
Proficiency Penalty When using a Core weapon with any tier two materials your proficiency bonus will he halved (Rounded down) for all hits made with the weapon, ability score bonus and other skill bonuses are applied as normal.
Weapon mechanics legend
Permanent: Means this upgrade is permanent and cannot be changed, think carefully
Set Bonus This bonus will only apply when your entier weapon is the same material.
Enchant-able: this weapon can be enchanted with the various weapon spells the game offers.
Un-Enchant-able: this weapon cannot be enchanted at all, usually happens when a blade or head of the weapon has an elemental damage. an inability to enchant a weapon overrides the ability to enchant it.
Core of weapon: The core usually determines the based damage die the weapon uses as well as its enchantibility, can also provide some added bonuses.
Blade or head of the weapon: Usually determines a bonus to damage for the weapon as well as maybe elemental damage.
Hilt or handle of the weapon: usually determains a bonus to hit, also determines the stat used to attack and deal damage such as dex, strength or finesse.
String: Bow only, determines both or either hit/ damage bonus as well as stat used strength dex or finesse.
Stock: cross bow only: special that determines both or either hit/ Damage bonus. also give the weapon slots used for the cross bow mods. all cross bows use Dex to hit and so that stat is Nil on all parts. you alsoget to choose one Lv1 mod for your crossbow.
Session Notes
What even is this ramble?
Delta is in desperate need of power to save her home of “The Hollow Clifs” from the cultists take over. she makes a deal with professor stem that leads her to gathering up a stitched together crew and set sail for the new world, knowing full well of thier true destination.
Delta arrives almost 5 months before the player characters, during this time she makes friends and allies imcluding sealing the tasks ahead with professor stem and always being by Valefor's side when he needs it.
Valefor wants nothing more then for the capital and all they stand for to be erased from Exilis so that he, the other sages, civilians and his mother can live in peace.
The Virus isn't a bad thing when done correctly to the right people it creates us sages, its when its giving to those unworthy that it horrible mutants them, the capital and their stupid ideals went too far and now we sages have to try and keep them naive to Livion's true intentions.
Delta starts hunting down the beholders of the land just as the player characters show up.
by the time the player characters have entered Exilis 60 years have already passed in the mortal realm.
Delta tries to cross Stem, growing attached to her crew and now having the harvester she tries to challenge him, but she is way out of her depth and has no idea how to wield the old god, she is captured.
The party rescue her and take her back to the surface, completely missing the deepest secrets of the tower and ironically, in leaving they have opened the doors for professor stem to work without the fear of being discovered, as well as this Delta has thrown off any sort of suspicions if the part had any.
Note from Delta to Stem
So if i get to this place called Exilis, there i can obtain power to free my home?
Yes dear of course, i am many things but i am not a lire, especially to thy lady Valour's Niece.
But why do i need to bring people with me? can't you just let me in yourself?
Ha Ha, Dear if it was that easy i wouldn't even bother contacting you. However those are my requests, you will need a fair crew to make the journey either way. Are you ready to sacrifice other people for your gain?
The Party survived the sea spire, disclosing information to Valour and learing of Delta's god in her pocket. however for some strange reason they seem not to push for further questions,
Zontatar tells Valour of her true intentions, bringing saddness to Valour as she knows that nothing can be done for Zonatar's wife now, and its all Delta's fault
Delta joins the party for a bit, curious about them and want to get to know them for at least a little bit before her secrets are revield.
As the Watcher is dead, the princess is gone and Parker has been disposed of the party are left with the task of trying to return home.
The watcher being dead has shattered a seal and so strengthened the nameless and made Delta/ Stem's job much easier.
Delta sets off to kill the last two beholders.
Valefore sets out to wander after putting Parker to his cruel fate.
Livion has claimed the city of promise and now marchers her armies of infected to the capital.
The namless aims to direct the party towords Delta so they can kill her and take the seals she has to destroy them.
The Party will be met By Valour when the come around.
Plot directions.
Valour will Show up if Robert resists the Namless callings. she will give the party a run down of what they have done. Valour will give the party some viles of sage blood and hint at the defeat of livion as the cure but she means a peacful defeat.
The princess orphan will crawl out of the corpse of the Watcher and start heading towords the sleeper's Den aiming to wake it up. if that happens the sleeper will sing its song of end and Exilis will be scrubbed clean of everything but normal citizens and the livion virus. this will also trap anyone that remains in exilis forever. End Game
Party Decides to try and protect the Capital by defeating Livion, they will be met with an army they have no hope of defeating but perhaps they can walk in now they are infected? if they talk to Livion without causing combat she will explain what the virus actually is and that she is a nutral party in all this. if the party attack they will face the army and either die or become infected, if they manage to somehow defeat then Valefor will show up to kill them.
Party decides to try and chase down Delta, They will either find her killing the beholder on its way to the capital, killing the beholder in the capital or before she gets to the sea spire, if the party don't manage to track her down in any of these moments they will find her at the bottom of the sea spire with Stem.
If the party run up to her she will try to doge questions, she will not respond to threats but rather reasoning and guilt. if the party use these tactics Delta will spill the beans, if they try to fight her depending on how they behaved she will try to flee or fight but not to kill unless they force her hand.
Party Listens to the Namless old god which tells them everything but in riddles, end up telling them that the way to be free is to destroy the seals holding Exilis between dimensions, and he says that Delta has the seals. Namless will not answer any questions. (If this Happens Valour will not show up)
Party make up there own direction, wing it.
Delta gives each of the party a hand made guide to the land of Exillis, its filled with information and has many blank pages ready to be filled.
Your Lantern
So…what i have noticed after being here a few..Days? its hard to tell time here, i never thought i would miss the sun so much
Anyway, yes, Everyone seems to have a lantern including me. but not everyone? my owl Remi dosent have one and some people also do not have them, those candle stick guys..Uh sages i believe they are called…yea, they don't have one either!
i have learned that the lantern acts as a heart or soul…as well as a coin purse. the people don't trade gold or silver and i can understand why, if you can trade life itself for forged iron why bother with shiny coins?
i know the lantern can bring you back from the brink of death but it burns up its light doing so. think of it like a….uhhhh…i am not sure but basically you have a finite amount of light in your lantern, they have a physical form called Lumens that can be extracted at any time but ONLY by the lantern's owner. if your lantern runs out of light….bad stuff happens.
Lumens
So i have mentioned them before but the people in this land trade small glowing crystals called Lumens. they are used for anything that coin is used for but it also keeps your lantern lit so don't be spending it all at once. you get more lumens the same way you would get any kinda currency, with work or trade.
i have noticed personally that some powerful beasts also carry lumens but they are not easy marks.
All lumens i am told originate from the capital, apparently the “Leader” of Exilis has the ability to create lumens at will….no wonder he is the big boss.
i have a real strong feeling this big boss is definitely not playing fair.
The Lost
So remember when i said bad stuff happens when your lantern runs out of light?
well every tree you see in this land….it used to be a person, just like you. unfortunate souls for whatever reason ran out of light for thier lantern and the darkness took them.
what is worse is they don't trully die, they are still alive and somewhat aware of their surroundings…thats why they have those creeeeepy faces on the bark. it gives me the shivers just thinking that this could happen to me.
but not everyone becomes a tree straight away, some of these “Lost” as they are called, wander around. most are passive but some are not so and will attack anyone with light.
its best to just stay away from anyone you see with a silent lantern.
Sages
You have probably seen them by now, they are hard to miss, tall guys dressed in white and gold, usally have the ability to manipulate light to their whim. i have been working with them for a while now, they are loyal and have a strong moral towards keeping peace and protecting the innocent.
overall they are a bit blunt but always helpful when you need it.
just don't mention anything to do with sickness around them..they hate it.
i feel like although they are commanded by the government of this land they don't exactly agree with it.
The Livion Virus
This stuff is nasty, The sage's sworn enemy and rightfully so, i have seen one of the gardens first hand and let me tell you, you do not want to touch this stuff. its smart, its relentless and all it craves is to kill and multiply.
i have been told their is a Queen but I mean you can assume that easily with the way the virus behaves, its cunning and smart.
If you do get infected you only have a few days at best until it becomes irreversible but i have seen some creatures getting completely infected almost instantly, they turn into sickly creatures. seeing it first hand I reckon its worse then loosing your light.
the Gardens as they are called are very well contained at the moment but the sages are fighting it back around the clock.
Each Garden has a core, the core is some very very unfortunate soul who acts as the garden's heart so to speak.
From here the heart uses other bodies, living or dead to creat brood mothers, these creatures birth an endless supply of spawn that seek out bodies to infect.
these 3d party infected turn into the hornet looking creatures you see or more brood mothers, sometimes something even more terrifying.
The Train
The Sea Spire
This place even scares me, it fills you with dread and hopelessness. really really bad stuff is going on in that place. i got captured before i could completely explore but that place goes further down the rabbit hole then anything i have ever seen. its full of experimental patients as they try to artificially create orphans, you know those things you see sometimes, odd, transparent alien like creature.
The Professor their is a Litch and not a normal one. i have seen him before. many years ago he used to teach my Son.
This place is a cornerstone of secrets and terrible fates.
I reckon the professor holds the key to our way home.
