Roof Top
As you regain your senses, you see and hear fellow soldiers and civilians being slaughtered around you by a group of demons. Looking away from the bloodshed you find yourselves on a large rooftop five or so floors above sprawling remains of a city, other towers loom above you as flying fiends throw humanoids from their roofs, there are no railings around the edge of your rooftop, only large fang like structures dotted around pointing toward the dark red sky, a hot wind blasting through and a sickening wheeze of a Remasch covered in burning runes bring your attention back to your predicament.

  • 5x Pitlings, rodent/insect hybrid
  • 1x Ruinant, sickly and burning scars
  • 4x Frenzied, impish evolution of pitlings and ensnarers
  • 1x Remasch, haunting beings that blend into their surrounds

Saving at least 3/5 civilians grants a Hero Token

3rd Floor - The Chained Seer
As you travel down the stairs to the ground floor, you immediately noticed that there are metallic beams haphazardly strutting out high on the walls and roof, chains hang from the beams leading to large meat hooks holding aloft a naked man without eyes, the hooks piercing his arms and one through the abdomen. As you come into view he slowly cranes his head up to the sound of your entrance and speaks.

“Woe to you, far from home
For Asmodeus sends his beasts with wrath
Seek Moranon's Gate for time is short”

The Man tilts his head, ear toward the staircase you stand at, seemingly waiting for a reply.

Who are you? “No name remains only a title, Seer of the damned”
Help you? “Dead men need no saving”
Who is Asmodeus? “Archfiend, Lord of the Ninth, Prince of Evil”
Who is Moranon? “Marquis of Nessus, Loyal only to Asmodeus”
What is Gate? “A path home, the only one you may find”
Where is Gate? “Past the river of red, at the end where you may fall”
What beasts? “Asmodeus is to send his armies to your homes”
Time is short? “Longer you take, the more guarded the gate”
Where are we? “Malsheem, Nessus, Ninth circle of Hell”
How do you know us? “I know naught of thee save that you are damned, less you reach home”

2nd Floor
Descending further you see two more of the sickly Ruinants and two beings of malformed flesh with shards of glass and mirrors jutting out of it, Bendraks.

  • 2x Ruinants
  • 2x Bendraks

Ground Floor
On the next floor you see a door way out and no more stairs descending the tower, a group of Pitlings are harassing more civilians as a few Ensnarers, half way between the rodent like pitlings and impish form of the frenzied

  • 3x Ensnarers
  • 5x Pitlings

As you exit the tower you find yourselves amidst a city of chaos and ruin, a large horn sounds and you see a gate out of the city begin to close, but there are other gates, if you're quick enough. Surrounded by devils and demons you instinctively know you need to escape and quick before your trapped, caught, or killed.

Introducing Montage Tests! Typically occur over a span of time where the group is working or moving toward a common goal, example montages could include navigating a vast desert, convincing farmers to rise up against a tyrannical leader, and performing a ritual to open a magically sealed gate. Each character takes a turn using a skill, ability, item, etc. they believe will help in the moment, for example if a group of heroes wants to cross an ocean on a sailing ship before a storm begins, one hero might make use of a magic fan that creates wind to keep the sails full day and night. You can for-go your turn to aid in another character's test but everyone has a chance to go before you can attempt another test and cannot use the same skill twice. For this montage to succeed you'll collectively need 5 successes before getting 3 failures.
