The Hand of Narkul was used during the experimentation, as such Merric's blood contains some of Narkuls, binding the two together through a telepathic and magical link, however this only activate if Merric visits Pinga's Monastary and gets close to the summoning grounds.

Merric as your looking around the room, the sound of wind catches your ear but you don't feel any wind. As you focus in on this oddity you can make out words that then become clear. “Curious, you hold my blood yet I do not know who you are.” You look around and can't see the source of the voice and no one else seems to be hearing or reacting to it.
